It's Monday! What Are You Reading

It's Monday What Are You Reading is weekly meme which is started by Sheila from One Persons Journey Through a World of Books.

Now Reading

In this breathtaking new story from the astonishing imagination of James Patterson, a girl has to save herself from an army assembled just to capture her-and maybe save the planet while she's at it.

Maximum Ride is a perfectly normal teenager who just happens to be able to fly, the result of an out-of-control government experiment.

Max and the other members of the Flock-six kids who share her remarkable ability-have been asked to aid a group of environmental scientists studying the causes of global warming. The expedition seems like a perfect combination of adventure, activism--and escaping government forces who watch the Flock like a hawk.

But even in Antarctica, trapped in the harshest weather on our planet, Maximum Ride is an irresistible target in constant danger. For whoever controls her powers could also control the world. Maximum Ride is James Patterson's greatest character, a heroine who manages to be human and fearless at once

After the third book, It took more than a year for me to read this book. When I checked the rating in goodreads, I was little bit surprised because most of them are disappointed with this book. But let's see. I have to bring back the memory about the third book. I almost forget what has happened to those kids.

I plan to read

In a city that runs on a dwindling supply of magic, a young boy is drawn into a life of wizardry and adventure. Conn should have dropped dead the day he picked Nevery's pocket and touched the wizard's locus magicalicus, a stone used to focus magic and work spells. But for some reason he did not. Nevery finds that interesting, and he takes Conn as his apprentice on the provision that the boy find a locus stone of his own. But Conn has little time to search for his stone between wizard lessons and helping Nevery discover who—or what—is stealing the city of Wellmet's magic.

I hope the translation is good. Since the The Disc World, I am getting worried that I can not enjoy any translation book anymore.

So What Are You Reading?

I've read "Maximum Ride" and was very impressed. I didn't like the 2nd book in the series much though -- sorry to say. Anyway, good luck with reading your TBR stack before buying a new book. My daughters say I should do that, too. I get around it by swapping books instead.

Here's my Monday post: http://bookendcrossing.blogspot.com/2011/01/what-are-you-reading-monday.html

Have a great week!

I find it hard to read books that have been translated. So often they seem to lose something. Thanks for visiting my blog!

I understand what you mean. I tried a couple of translated books by Terry Pratchett and they where BAD. :) Have fun reading the books you got there. They look pretty action packed.

I've been curious about the Maximum Ride series, as Patterson has written (with co-authors) several books that are "departures" for him. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for visiting my blog.
